OHA Europe is excited to announce the hiring of new on and off-ice staff for the 2019/20 school year and hockey season as Gregor Baumgartner (Austria), Christian Cseh (Austria), Max Wehrhan (Austria), and Natalia Beďačová (Slovakia) will all be joining the Academy in different capacities.
Gregor Baumgartner (Skills Coach):
Gregor Baumgartner comes to us after spending the past few seasons as a coach with the Austrian national program. Gregor is a former long-time professional player and was drafted in the 2nd Round of the 1997 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. He then went on to spend 16-years playing professionally in both North America and Europe, including 12 season in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga with the Vienna Capitals (2003-2006) and EHC Linz (2006-2015). He also featured in 59 games for the Austrian national team over the course of his playing career. Gregor now works as a skill development coach throughout Europe teaching players with his hockey development company Get Better. Gregor will work with our Academy players each Monday during the season.
Christian Cseh (Goaltending Coach):
Christian Cseh returns to OHA Europe after having spent the past 5 seasons with the Vienna Capitals youth and Erste Liga teams. Christian is a prominent Austrian goaltending coach and was previously at OHA Europe from 2012-2014. Overall Christian brings 13 years of goalie coaching experience to the Academy and will be working with all our goaltenders on a daily basis. Prior to his coaching career, Christian enjoyed a playing career that lasted 16 seasons as he featured in both the Austrian first and second professional leagues from 1990-2006.
Max Wehrhan (Assistant Goaltending Coach):
Max Wehrhan is an OHA Europe graduate (Class of 2016) and will be beginning his coaching career this season as our Assistant Goaltending Coach. Max played for the Academy from 2012-2016 followed by one season with HC Innsbruck at the U20 level. Max will assist Christian with the goaltending program on a weekly basis.
Natalia Beďačová (Staff Intern):
Natalia Beďačová joins our staff as an intern this year through the Sport Institute of Finland in Vierumaki where she is currently working on her sport management education in conjunction with International Ice Hockey Federation. Natalia has already accumulated significant hockey operations experience through her studies in Finland and will assist our staff in all facets during this season.
